Why We Can’t Stay Silent
There are more empty homes in America than there are unhoused people — and yet, every night, hundreds of thousands sleep without shelter. That silence? That’s part of the problem.

At Singleton Legacy Homes, we believe that silence is complicity. That’s why we created this blog—No Room for Silence: The Unhoused Truth—to name what others won’t, to speak on what too many ignore, and to share the stories that rarely make headlines but live at the heart of our work.
Housing insecurity isn’t just a statistic. It’s someone’s mother, brother, friend. It’s the woman who aged out of foster care without a support system. It’s the man who served his country but couldn’t find his footing when he got home. It’s the elder who worked their whole life but still can’t afford rent on a fixed income. These are not failures of character—they’re failures of a system. And that truth deserves a voice.
Why This Blog Exists
This blog is not marketing. It’s not fluff. It’s a platform for truth-telling, community healing, and radical transparency.
We created this space because too often, the people closest to the crisis are the farthest from the microphone. That ends here.
We will use this blog to:
Share stories of residents who’ve overcome impossible odds
Highlight the cracks in the system—and the people falling through them
Showcase the everyday work of building safe, shared, stable housing
Reflect on what it takes to restore dignity, one room at a time
What “No Room for Silence” Means to Us
The name isn’t just a slogan. It’s a stance.
There’s no room for silence in the face of injustice.
No room for silence when families are forced to sleep in cars or shelters.
No room for silence when outdated policies and deep-rooted biases leave people unhoused.
No room for silence when we know better—and can do better.
Our work is about creating space—literal and spiritual—for people to land, grow, and rebuild. And part of that work is speaking up. Loudly. Consistently. Unapologetically.

We’re not here to make people comfortable. We’re here to make people see.
So read the stories. Share them. Talk about them at your dinner table. Bring them into your boardrooms, your classrooms, your places of worship.

This is our fight. And now that you’re here, it’s yours, too.
